Planning Your Xmas List

Unfortunately, here in the greatest country on Earth we seem to think that the end of one holiday means we should jump right on to the next. While I wish we had a little more time after Thanksgiving to prepare for the hectic Christmas season, it is inevitable that while your aunt passes the mashed potatoes for your second helping at Thanksgiving she is going to ask what you want for Christmas. Most likely you’re thinking “ uhhh a million dollars and some Fireball please?”, but of course this probably wouldn’t go over that well. Make sure you get you want this year by having some ideas in mind. If you go with the typical “I don’t really have anything in mind” response, they somehow think it’s suitable to buy you a scarf that only a third grader could pull off. We have put some ideas to make your holiday season bomb.

** We also love Kwanzaa and Hanukkah so hit up this list too for your holiday needs

1. Money- while a lot of people think this is a cop out answer this is actually my favorite thing to get. The possibilities are endless, and you can do anything you want with it. By now you’ve realized that when you promised yourself in August you wouldn’t spend that much money you were lying. Your bank account now reads $3.78 which is barely higher than your GPA. This is a great thing to ask grandparents for.

2. Giftcards- This is a tricky one, but try to ask for gift cards to places to eat. Honestly, it’s a waste if you ask for a giftcard to a clothing store because the family member would rather buy you what you want, and will probably spend more money on you that way. Ask for giftcards to places like Chick-fil-a, Chipotle, Starbucks, Panera, Dunkin Donuts, Five Guys, and basically anywhere else that makes your stomach smile. This will be your saving grace when old highschool friends want to catch up over some food because now you can actually afford it.

3. Shoes- Is is really even necessary to explain this category?

4. Jewelry - Holidays are the perfect time to ask for new pearl earrings, a statement necklace, or a cute monogrammed bracelet. Whatever your heart desires this year, any woman in your family will most likely love to buy it for you. Ask for something that can be used with a large part of your wardrobe. I mean pearls, diamonds, and monograms literally go with everything, so if you stick to that you’ll be golden.

5. Outerwear - This category is so underrated. Outerwear can be expensive, and it doesn’t matter if you go to school in the South or the North you will need some type of outerwear to put on eventually. J.Crew vests are an obvious favorite, Shep Shirts are a must, and Patagonias and North Faces are amazing. Pick out your favorite and tell your parents it is a necessity for school.
